Red Cathedral
This is the famous church, with its multi-coloured onion domes, that stands at one end of Red Square in Moscow: St Basil's. The players are the construction teams, vying to complete their assigned sections of the cathedral, each topped with a dome. For this they need the appropriate raw materials, ideally with extras for embellishment. And may gain other benefits from Moscow's various Guilds.
In game terms, players are using the dice that power each action to claim sections of the cathedral and to complete them quickly. Game play is not completely straightforward, but fairly easy to grasp, while also providing some interesting challenges. I've been enjoying it online at BoardGameArena.
The Contractors expansion adds lots of options.
For 1-4 players, aged 10+, playing time 80 minutes
The Red Cathedral was designed by Israel Cendrero and Sheila Santos and is published by Devir
