This is Friedemann's take on an old card game (Agurk) from Scandinavia. It's a trick-taking game where the aim is not to win the last trick of the hand.

There are no suits to worry about, just cards numbered 1-15 and the highest played will win the trick. Cards also show a number of cucumbers (or are they gherkins?). Anyway, these are the penalty points that players take if when they win the last trick – they're neat little wooden models in bright green. Get more than five cucumbers and you're out of the game. The final hand is a duel between the last two players for the win.

It's not a deep game, but there are some tactical subtleties and it's a neat little filler.

Note: this is a bilingual English/German edition with German and English titles on the cover.

For 2-6 players, aged 8+, playing time 25 minutes

Five Cucumbers was designed by Friedemann Friese and is published by 2F
