A new (2025) co-operative game from the master, Matt Leacock, has to be worth a look. Then, after a couple of turns, I realised: it's Thunderbirds! Yes, Matt has taken his terrific 2015 game (long since out of print) and re-worked it for the more accessible theme of rescuing distressed animals.
Thus, each player has a role in the team and they must work together to pick up lost, injured or strayed animals and bring them to sanctuary. However, while they're dealing with these everyday emergencies, a bigger threat is building and must be defeated if the players are to win the game.
As always, there are more ways to lose the game than there to win, which keeps the players on their toes. They can't afford to concentrate on one danger, they have to address them all. It is cracking stuff with a constant feeling of jeopardy throughout.
For 1-4 players, aged 8+, playing time 45-60 minutes
